Making Sci-Fi A Reality: Exploring STEM with English Language Arts

October 27 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Free

What if you could motivate your students to have a love of reading, as well as science? Learn how to use science fiction as a valuable resource for STEM learning in this fun-filled, futuristic webinar.

Often, science fiction presents a notion of possibilities given time, innovation and technology. By using this perspective we’ll help you build connections between literature and emerging technologies in STEM.

Explore questions such as, “How have the ideas that once were the wildest dreams of science fiction writers become the reality of today?” “What ideas have you read about in a Sci-fi book that you think are plausible?” “What would you invent for the future? Write an essay about what it would be and how it would help solve a problem.”

By making connections between CCSS and NGSS students can develop a love of reading and STEM disciplines simultaneously.

Learn more in this educational webinar brought to you by NextWave STEM.

Webinar Objectives:
– Explore the connections between emerging technologies and emerging technologies in curricula.
– Explore activities for students to expand on reading comprehension and understanding that can be done at home.
