December 2, 2020 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pmFree
“A Teen’s Guide to the Social Dilemma
Has social media been sneaking into your brain? Many teens are spending hours scrolling through perfectly filtered photos, obsessing over likes and shares, or encountering virtual bullies. You’ll hear about the tricks software developers use to keep people on Instagram, Snapchat, video games and other media.
This teen-focused discussion features the creators of the Netflix docudrama, The Social Dilemma, who spent years working at tech companies. and have tips on how you can be in control of how you spend your time.
How can we build healthier relationships with technology?
Max Stossel, Head of Education for The Center for Humane Technology, will illustrate some of the specific ways technology is designed to be addictive & distracting, provide tools to help combat these designs, and open up for a much needed discussion among peers about the impact of phones & social media on our lives.
This session is designed for students ages 10-18. All parents are encouraged to attend, even if your children are younger. Includes a presentation from Max Stossel and Q&A hosted by ActivityHero. You’ll have a chance to submit your questions when you register.”
